Invisalign

For people with crooked teeth, they have two options for straightening them. They can choose metal braces or clear plastic aligners like Invisalign®. If you have severely crooked teeth, then aligners are not the best choice to straighten them. However, if you have mild to moderately crooked teeth, then our dentists at Mesquite Dental Solutions can evaluate your teeth to determine if aligners are right for you.

Disqualifications for Aligners

Although improvements in aligners allow them to be worn by younger patients and those with moderately crooked teeth, our dentists may not be able to clear you to wear plastic aligners if:

  • You have the wrong tooth shape.
  • Your teeth are in the wrong positions.
  • You’ve had prior work like bridges that replaced teeth.
  • You have intrusions or extrusions of teeth.
  • The gaps in your teeth are too wide.

If you have bridges or implants, these teeth replacements won’t move, so the aligners will not be able to shift your remaining teeth. Also, the aligners cannot get a good grip on your teeth if they are rounded or pegged, and if they’ve rotated too much, they will not be able to shift correctly to make your teeth look better.

Corrections They Can Make

Our dentists may recommend Invisalign® in Mesquite, TX if you have:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Open bites
  • Narrow or moderate gaps between teeth
  • Overcrowded teeth
  • Crooked Teeth

How Do Aligners Work?

Aligners work by applying consistent pressure to your teeth to move them into position. Our dentists will take images of your teeth to send with your aligner order so that they fit your mouth. All Invisalign® near you are custom fit for each patient.

The aligners come in sets of 14, one for each day of the week. When you’re about to run out of a set, you will contact our dentists to evaluate your teeth. If they’ve moved into position, then you go on to the next set. If they haven’t, then you will repeat the previous set at no extra cost to you.

If you have a mild overbite or crooked teeth, it may only take a few weeks to correct. If you’re interested in straightening your teeth or resolving a bite misalignment with Invisalign®, contact our dentists at Mesquite Dental Solutions to have your teeth evaluated.
